A MALAYSIAN student who got lost in the city was stalked and bashed for no reason, police say. Kevin Joseph, who arrived in Australia a month ago to take up a two-year engineering course, was in an induced coma yesterday after being savagely beaten to the head in Little Lonsdale St. Police believe the 19-year-old, who is living with his aunt in Avondale Heights, may have been attacked by drunken youths who had left a nearby nightspot. |

The Straits Times MOVING ON: Mr Sharmaine Rose had a place at UNSW Asia when the university decided to pull out of Singapore last year. She has since found a place at JCU and will start her studies here in a fortnight.
WHAT a difference a year makes.
This time last year, polytechnic graduate Sharmaine Rose, 20, was worried about finding a university or private school to further her education.
She had been offered a place by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Singapore and even paid up her first-year fees. She was due to start on her business degree studies in August. |
