POLICE have this morning arrested two people over the vicious bashing of an Indian student on a Melbourne train.

Sourabh Sharma, 21, was beaten by a group of thugs as he travelled alone on the Werribee line about 8pm on May 9.

Mr Sharma suffered a fractured cheek bone and a broken tooth in the sickening attack, which was captured on close circuit television cameras.

He said he was racially abused and robbed during the attack.

Police have arrested two youths from Hoppers Crossing over the attack.

Two search warrants were conducted on separate residential properties around 7am this morning.

A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man are currently being questioned by police.
