An overseas university student walking home from the Callaghan campus has been confronted by a gunman in the second such attack in less than a week.

Police said the student, 21, had left the international house and was walking through a car park about 4.30am this morning when he saw a green-coloured car approach.

The victim has told police that a man and woman got out of the car and were possibly armed with a gun.

With their faces covered, they ordered the victim into the car.

But he retreated before running off, tripping over shrubs and falling heavily.

The fall caused grazes to his face, hands and leg.

As he lay on the ground, the gunman has approached and ordered him to hand over his wallet before searching the victim’s pockets.

They left empty-handed.

The male is described as being between 170 and 180 centimetres tall, was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered with a dark mask covering everything except his eyes.

The woman is described as wearing dark clothing and also had her face covered.

The car was small and appeared to be green.

The attack follows a similar incident on a 25-year-old man on the university grounds last Friday.

At 4.15am, the man had parked his car when he was approached by two men armed with a pistol and metal bar, who demanded cash.

The victim was forced to lay on the ground while the pair stole his wallet, mobile phone and a bag containing a laptop computer before fleeing the scene in a silver-coloured Subaru.

The university has been plagued by violent robberies on students, especially overseas students, in the past two years.
