OSAssurance Fund: the International Students Assurance Fund is an emergency relief fund initiated and administered by NLC. The Fund was set up following recommendations that came out of the NLCampus Reviews undertaken from major educational institutions across Australia.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide social welfare through counselling activities and emergency services for benevolent relief of suffering & misfortune for the benefit of NLCommunity. With primary focus on safety & welfare, NLC is able to assist International Students who are disadvantaged in critical situations.

The Fund is managed by NLCare, our NLCommunity Welfare operation. The in-house NLCounsellors determine matters qualifying for assistance and make referrals to external agencies for further action where appropriate. The referral process ensures the Fund is used effectively and efficiently.

NLCare is supported by an Advisory Board, as an independent body, to provide periodic policy guidance and expert advice on the use and impact of the Fund.

On 8 August 2008, our national 100 Days on Campus NLCampaign: Safety First - On Campus & Beyond concluded with the launch of OSAssurance Fund.

On May 1 2009, the International Students Day, our national NLCampaign: why not ME? for Representation & Welfare was officially launched at the New South Wales Parliament House.

As the first national partner of NLCare, BUPA Australia made a donation of $100,000 to OSAssurance Fund.
