The National Safety Team is a joint team in action on safety. The Team is comprised of lead International Students Representatives from Campus Safety Teams in all major educational institutions across Australia. Campus Safety Teams are made up of NLCommunity Volunteers who want to take action in improving the safety of International Students on their campuses. All Campus Safety Team members go through special training sessions provided by NLC National Office with support from state & territory Police Departments.

Campus Safety Teams conduct on-campus security audits and work closely with Crime Prevention Officers in the Local Area Commands to promote safety awareness and provide assistance in safety-related incidents.

 

NLC has proposed International Students Safety Officer (ISSO) positions being created directly under Commanders of Operations representing federal, state and territory police.

The National Safety Meetings between the National Safety Team and International Students Safety Officers are being planned by NLC with Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Police Commissioner¡¯s offices around the country. The Meetings serve as a platform to co-ordinate NLCommunity National Safety Programs and address specific state and territory safety issues.
